It’s been no way but up for Heri Iznaga since he stormed into the WMR 100 back on March 10. And now, that progression reaches its conclusion as the Cuban-born artist climbs up into the top of the list with his song Tides, as he also becomes the first Latin American artist to ever claim the top spot of the list. Iznaga puts Joker Out‘s two-week reign atop the WMR 100 to an end, as the Slovenian band falls to #4 with Carpe Diem. The silver spot of the week is held by Malta’s The Busker, who soar up from #6 with Dance (Our Own Party), while last week’s #2 Mae Muller slips down to #3 with I Wrote a Song. Completing the top five is Francesco Gabbani, who climbs twelve places up from #17 with L’abitudine, but there’s another fast-riser everyone should be on the lookout for: Diplo, whose collaboration with Sturgill Simpson and Dove Cameron in Use Me (Brutal Hearts) enters the top ten in only its second week in the list, rocketing up twenty-seven places to #9.

It’s the Slovenian band that encourages us to seize the day, and they have seized the WMR 100 throne for a second consecutive week: Joker Out hold once again the #1 spot of our list with Carpe Diem, as no challenger has managed to knock them off. But that doesn’t meen they shouldn’t be looking out for the competition: Mae Muller claims the silver medal this week, shooting up from #6 to #2 with I Wrote a Song, overtaking Sabela, who slips to #3 with No sé lo que sientes. Heri Iznaga and Emmet Glascott round out the top five.

Second-placers no more. After two weeks stuck at #2, Joker Out finally take that last step to the top of the WMR 100 list this week with their song Carpe Diem, becoming not only the first band to ever claim the #1 spot of the WMR 100, but also the first act to take a Slovene-language song to the highest place in the list. Still hot on their heels is Sabela; the Spanish singer also moves up one spot to take this week’s silver medal with No sé lo que sientes, while last week’s number 1 Pasha Parfeni slips down to #3 with Soarele şi luna. Emmet Glascott and Lindsey Stirling round out the top five, both scoring new peaks, respectively, with 100 Times (#4) and Snow Waltz (#5).

Dear World Music Rankings readers,
It has been over a month since this site officially started operating with the publication of the first-ever WMR 100, and during that time, we have realized one thing: we will need you to join us along for the ride. Which is why we want to do something for you.
We are planning to launch subscriptions in order to better fund our operations, and we have decided that, in exchange for your support, you will get more power over the site if you subscribe. And since we have multiple ideas for it, we need to find the answer to a question: just what kind of power do you want?

Just two weeks after his spectacular debut at #17, Moldova’s Pasha Parfeni becomes the first male artist to ever lay claim to the top spot of the WMR 100. He does so with Soarele şi luna, the song with which he will be flying his country’s flag at the Eurovision Song Contest next month in Liverpool, combining folk sounds with a more modern touch. Parfeni’s rapid rise to the top of the list blocks Joker Out from the top spot, as the Slovenian band finds itself settling for #2 for the second consecutive week; while Sabela moves into the third place (up from #9 last week), notching a new personal best with No sé lo que sientes. Rounding out the top five are the dethroned Alessandra, who drops to #4 after spending the last two weeks topping the board with Queen of Kings, and British group FLO, who stay at #5 for the second consecutive week with Losing You.
