Help us shape the future of WMR

Dear World Music Rankings readers,

It has been over a month since this site officially started operating with the publication of the first-ever WMR 100, and during that time, we have realized one thing: we will need you to join us along for the ride. Which is why we want to do something for you.

We are planning to launch subscriptions in order to better fund our operations, and we have decided that, in exchange for your support, you will get more power over the site if you subscribe. And since we have multiple ideas for it, we need to find the answer to a question: just what kind of power do you want?

Option 1: Direct influence over the WMR 100

We created the WMR 100 to be the cornerstone of the site, and so far we have based it primarily on our own preferences and recommendations. However, we have also tried to factor in your reactions and thoughts into each placing, and we have been thinking that maybe we should add our supporters more directly into the conversation by letting subscribers cast their votes for the WMR 100 list and overall have a more direct influence over each week’s outcome.

Option 2: WMR Draft

Another way we could have you, our readers, help your favorites get to the top of the WMR 100 is by helping them get into the list in the first place. As things stand right now, WMR is a one-person project, which means there probably are many things we are missing or not paying enough attention to. We could correct that with subscribers willing to help us out! We are considering developing a draft process where you can propose, then pick out the top prospects from across the world to enter our list.

Option 3: New fan-voted list

Of course, instead of the WMR 100, there is also the possibility of making a second weekly list – one voted upon and decided only by our subscribers! You would then become WMR VIPs with the power to vote for their own number 1.

Option 4: Why pick just one?

These three options are not necessarily incompatible with one another, so what if we just roll ahead with two or all of them? We could allow our subscribers to vote directly in the WMR 100, pick out the new candidates and also get a new weekly list made by you and you only!

Vote below in the poll to help us decide, or sound off in the comments if you have any more ideas about how you would want to influence WMR if you subscribed to support us! We hope we will be able to build the world’s ultimate playlist together.
